Through the next paragraphs, you may hear some things that you wouldn’t have heard anywhere else. This article is not a conspiracy theory kind of attention-grabbing speculation. I am sharing here what I came to realise after properly thinking it over, getting the real facts into picture and understanding the full context of the human life on earth today, all with the help of one of the greatest books that I have ever read – “The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels” by “Alex Epstein”.

What do we know? There is a catastrophic rise in global temperature. The Sea Levels are rising. The Ozone layer is depleting fast. People are dying from pollution. All because of rise in CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) in the atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuels. Moreover, we are going to run out of fossil fuels within a few years or decades. So, we need to use more renewable energy to tackle both…..

Sound Familiar? YEAH!

But are we right here? What is the source of our knowledge? Well, it is the school textbooks, news articles, scientific researches and a global consensus regarding these things. All of this can’t be possibly wrong. Or can it be…

Let’s get some facts straight. How much do you think carbon dioxide has increased in earth in last 100 years? Doubled? Tripled? Well, you might be astounded to know that carbon dioxide is merely 0.04% of our atmosphere as of today. And 100 years ago, it was around 0.03%.

How much has the temperature risen over the last 10 years, when the world has increased the use of fossil fuels so much? 2 degree Celsius? 1? Wrong again – Almost 0 degree!

Let’s take a longer range. In the last 150+ years? Not more than 0.5 degree Celsius. Surprised? Even this can’t be said to be because of fossil fuels completely, as Earth is in a ‘Warming Stage’ naturally.

Stay tuned and Listen to this. In 1972, an international think tank “Club of Rome” said in a multi-million copy selling book that we would run out of oil by 1992, and natural gas by 1993. Have we? Well, obviously not. We have discovered so much more fossil fuels than we could have ever imagined, and we have just scratched the surface.

But nevertheless, shouldn’t we just use renewables like wind and solar? We can’t. Wind and solar energy are so inherently intermittent, they can never be power us independently on a large scale.

We need cheap energy desperately, to power our schools, hospitals, houses, factories and every damn thing that we run. Around 86% of our energy comes from fossil fuels, and there is no technology even near to fossil fuels that can provide cheaper electricity (Solar and wind are highly subsidised by government to make them look cheap, they are actually very costly).

Yes, I don’t claim to know everything. But the most important thing I have learned now is to not blindly believe anything anybody says. No matter who says it, no matter how many people support it. Without using my own due diligence, common sense and research.

You don’t need to blindly believe this article too. You can check all the facts present here. Or I suggest you read “The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels” to get the source of all these info, and 10 times more fascinating info like this which will change your perspective of this issue forever!
